IFC Medical Becomes Chameleon Scientific
IFC Medical announced that its Board of Directors has approved a new name for the company, Chameleon Scientific. ”We chose Chameleon Scientific to reinforce our focus on creating high performance surfaces for medical devices. The name Chameleon serves as a metaphor for our abilities to change the surfaces of inserted and implanted medical devices using the principles of atomic and molecular physics.” said CTO Dan Storey.
Chameleon Scientific develops specialty surfaces for medical device manufacturers to provide unique performance to manufacturers of medical devices. The company’s surfaces deliver tunable antimicrobial performance; deliver attachment of bone, gum and other cells; prevent cell attachment, provide drug delivery without degradable polymers; delivery peptides, proteins, and growth factors; provide radiopacity and broad range of other high-performance capabilities.
IFC Medical’s First Issued Patent
IFC Medical announced the issuance of its first patent for an entirely new method of surface modification. The fast track patent application was filed in January of this year and awarded in just under seven months. US Patent #7,250,195. Molecular Plasma Deposition of Colloidal Materials.
